Welcome!
Library Technology Services, located on the 4000 level of  Booth Library, provides a variety of resources to the Eastern Illinois University community. Our facility includes Booth's expanded Media Collection, the continuation of our Reserve Media Collection, a glass enclosed Computer Lab with 58 IMAC workstations, three IMAC media stations with scanners and burners, an electronic classroom, the latest AV-equipment in our media listening lab, three private media lListening rooms with surround sound, and eleven private group study rooms.   If you have any questions, please contact one of the Library Technology Services staff.


Booth Library Media Collection:
This collection includes sound recordings, videotapes, DVDs, laser discs, films, slides, CD-Roms, kits and software programs . As described in the Circulation Policy, sound recordings are available to Eastern patrons for one week. DVDs, videos, films, and laser discs circulate for 2 weeks to faculty and one day to students and staff. You may look up video and music items in the EIU Online Catalog, or come into the library and browse through our open stacks.  Faculty may have videos delivered to their department office by filling out our Online Reservation Form.

Computer Lab:
Booth Library's open computer lab now has 58 IMAC computers with 20 inch screens. All are loaded with dual boot options to either Windows XP or Mac OSX. The latest software including Office and Adobe products plus utilities have been loaded to help students.   In addition, the 4000 level has three 24 inch IMAC dual boot media stations with scanners, dvd/cdrom burners and all necessary editing software available in the adjacent audio-visual and media lab area. Booth Library has an additional 40 Gateway Profiles with Windows XP as general use computers scattered throughout the library along the east side of the 1000 south, 2000 south, and 3000 south levels. All student computers have access to color or black and white laser printing on the 4000 level.  All computers are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.  For students with laptops, wireless access and wireless printing is available throughout the building along with fully wired study tables to connect you to Eastern's network.

Online catalog:
The EIU Online Catalog is searchable from any of the computers in the lab.
Software:
All stacks and lab computers have an extensive list of software which changes each semester. Click to see a full list of this software.
Hours:
Hours for the Computer Lab are the same as Booth Library's hours.
Printing Options:
Color or black and white laser printing is available by using your Panther Card to charge the printing to your student account.  Black and white copies are 8 cents per page and color copies are 16 cents per page.  Printing charges are billed at the end of each month.

Electronic Classroom:

Booth Library has an electronic classroom with 24 student computers on the 4000 level.  Library workshops are taught in this room each semester.  When the room is not scheduled for workshops it is then used as an extra open lab for students. Media Lab Plus Private Listening and Study Rooms:

Library Technology Services has a 50 unit media lab with the latest audio-visual equipment including Blue Ray, DVD, VHS, laser disk, CD, and cassette players. The lab also has typewriters for patron use and three media scanning stations.  Three private Media Listening and Viewing Rooms have been created, each with a 42" HD Plasma screen setup for Blue Ray, DVD, or VHS media.   These media rooms are equipped with Dolby SurroundSound Systems.  Check at the service desk to see if this room is available for your group of up to six people to view a movie.  Eleven Group Study Rooms are available on the 4000 level as well.  Check with a staff member if you have any questions about our study rooms or library services

Media Reserves:
If a non-print item needs to be accessed by a number of students, faculty may place it on reserve in Library Technology Services, where it will be circulated on a limited charge-out basis.
